Retro Rooms: Short Visual Experiences.
An animated short-visual series mixing modern animated art with vintage nostalgia, built on custom-trained Flux LoRA models and a finale of pixel-art liminal spaces.

Retro Rooms started in December 2024 as a way to explore new tools and showcase custom Flux LoRA models: an illustration-style LoRA that plays nicely with realistic scenes, paired with a workflow that generates animations in the same aesthetic. The result is a series of short visuals designed to create a sense of nostalgia, modern animated art wearing a vintage style. Sound on.
Time of day.
The audio was chosen as intentionally as the visuals. Softer, slower tracks pair with the rooms, calibrated to the times the pieces were posted, so the mood of each visual matches the hour it lands in a feed.
Some of my favorites.
The finale.
The series closes with liminal spaces rendered in a pixelated style, generated with a custom-trained Pixel Art LoRA. That model is public: DarkDescent Pixel Art on Civitai.
The ideas born here fed directly into the next series, Monolithic.
